Ive noticed a lot of my clients complain about their foundation and concealer dividing into their face, powder creating fine lines under eyes or blusher/bronzer completely disappearing within a couple hours of makeup application etc. This is all followed by a typical top up of your makeup every time you get a free second in your day and believe me thats the last thing we all want to do.
Firstly, a regular mistake that we all make is rushing. I cannot stress how important it is to allow your moisturiser and primer sink into your skin before applying your foundation.
Secondly, finding a setting spray thats good for YOUR skin type. This is another common mistake.
Below i will list in order my routine. I have combination skin, so i am very oily in my T-Zone but these particular products work amazing for me and my makeup looks flawless ALL day!
1. Prep Skin - Let this set for 60 seconds
YSL Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow
This product gives me 72 hours of hydration (and it interacts with light so your makeup will look even better in photos!)
2. Prime skin - Let this set for 60 seconds
YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer
This reduces the look of my pores and also hydrates my skin.
3. Foundation
Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat Foundation
It's really important to spend the most time getting your foundation evenly applied, this way the rest of your makeup will blend well.
4. Under Eye Concealer
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer
I use MACs Pro Longwear Concealer to begin with and blend this evenly with a beauty blender. Then i use YSLs Touche Eclat for added radiance.
5. Setting
Rodial Instaglam Compact Banana Powder
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder
Rodial Banana powder is great for under eyes and reflects really well on a camera flash! and i use the MAC Mineralize Powder for the rest of my face.
After you have added all your colour, it is essential that you use a good setting spray that is right for your skin type.
I use Urban Decay Oil-Control Setting Spray this controls the oils in my t-zone and makes sure I stay matte all day.
I hope this has given you some understanding on whats essential for long lasting makeup, remember being patient and not rushing your makeup is key!

Now that your base is ready, you would then go into colour, so adding bronzer, blusher, eyebrows, eyeshadows etc. These 5 steps are the MOST important as this is where you're ensuring your makeup lasts all day.
After you have added all your colour, it is essential that you use a good setting spray that is right for your skin type.
